AI hardware sold off yesterday. SOX -3.4%, $MU and oracle down 5%+. the trigger was that FT reported openai told investors its run-rate was ~$50B at end of september, not the ~$70B that had been going around. actually most of that gap is a definition difference. anthropic counts sales through cloud partners, openai doesn't. BUT it still matters for one company... oracle's $664B backlog leans on a reported ~$300B openai deal. that becomes a real question about ability to pay meanwhile the physical side didn't blink. same day, tsmc reported september sales +55% yoy. add up july to september and Q3 lands ~2% above the top of its own guidance. worth keeping in mind what i said earlier this week about the 'who takes the money risk'...
