SMIC - China's TSMC SMIC, not to be confused with $SMCI (Super Micro), is China's TSMC. Huawei Ascend main reason of being behind is that EUV technology and associated technologies has been sanctioned from China. @highyieldYT and @SemiAnalysis_ have done a teardown on Kirin Processor made using DUV which can match TSMC N6 in transistor density but not in power efficiency nor transistor switching speeds. They do not see China closing the gap as China advances it's DUV manufacturing because it's DUV techniques only transistor density and not power nor transistor switching speeds and not to mentioned yield. However, this is an insurance policy for China and allows China to stay in the tech race but always 3-4 years behind. That is until the next breakthrough in lithography. https://t.c
